Goodrich Cemetery
Part # 1
Goodrich Cemetery
has always fascinated me from the first time I was told about it. So sit back
and listen to one of the longest, creepiest tails in our investigation files here. This is Part # 1: The first time I heard about this cemetery was back in the
year 2000. My younger brother, Paul, who was an investigator in my old group
called B.O.P.I.A.R. said that he was driving down these back roads near his house
in Richmond when he found it…perhaps the creepiest cemetery
ever. When my brother told me about this place using the description “creepy”,
I said “I’ll be the judge of that.” It was April the 17th, 2000 when we did our first investigation of the Goodrich Cemetery. The moon was full and a low mist covered the ground.
The temp was about 46 degrees farienhight. Paul was working the
video camera and I was running the audio recorder as well as the EMF detector. The
whole scene looked like one from a Frankenstein movie when the doctor goes to dig up a dead body. Then Paul mentions that the date was our dearly departed father’s birth date. Then right behind us we heard a moving sound in the bushes.
We both saw something that is now known as a shadow person. I told Paul
not to move an inch. We stood frozen as this figure looked us over and sized
up our threat level. It looked up and down then made a leaping motion and disappeared
into a flash as if disappearing into a portal in time and space. That was my
first encounter with Goodrich Cemetery and one of its inhabitants.
Goodrich Cemetery
Part # 2
The next time I got to investigate Goodrich Cemetery was June 8th, 2001. It was just past 9:15 PM. The sky
was overcast and the light was slipping away. It was Paul, Linda, Amy and I from
BOPIAR that lead the investigation into the cemetery that night. Linda, our photographer,
was going to work with me first while Paul and Amy would conduct EMF readings of the inner area of the cemetery. Linda and I made it to the back of the cemetery where we were feeling drawn to. Once at the line that was made from the groomed part of Goodrich Cemetery to the non-groomed part we stopped. I asked Linda to let me go into the thicker brush and follow the increasing EMF field I was getting on
my EMF detector. Once I was about ¾ the way into the underbrush, Linda started
to follow me and get some more photos. That’s when her digital camera went
dead and wouldn’t respond to any type of actions. So Linda backed out of
the brush to the edge of the groomed part of the cemetery. Then her camera came
back to life. I started out to meet up with her.
Once Linda could see me coming out of the bushes she said “OMG! Steve
there is a white milky light around you I can see it with the camera and with out the camera!”
Paul and Amy came over to us and started to give us the stats on the EMF fields. That’s when I felt the spirit of an older man.
This man seemed non-aggressive as I envisioned him very well-dressed with a kind face. He
introduced himself as George and I introduced myself as well. Once I was done
communicating with George, I said to the group “Let’s take a few more reading and pictures then wrap it up for
the night.” Just as I said that, Paul asked everyone to freeze! Sure enough we heard footsteps in the dew covered grass. It was the shadow person looking at us as if to
say “Why are you here again in my house?” You could tell he was not
happy. You could hear him pacing back and forth wondering what to do about us. Then after about 5 intense minutes, it was over.
We all heard a rush of wind and a flashing sound and he was gone! This
was the point where we all looked at each other and said “Let’s get the hell out of here!!!” We all jumped in our cars and sped away. If the front
iron gate of Goodrich Cemetery had a turn style on it, it would have still been spinning a week later! That’s the last time I was at Goodrich Cemetery until the year 2008.
Goodrich Cemetery
Part # 3
The year is now 2008, the date June 21st.
Our team met at Goodrich Cemetery around 8:30 PM
that night. We started setting up so we could conduct our experiments in this
place. We were all rushing around to set up our equipment before we were plunged
into complete nighttime darkness. I was helping as much as I could also. We set up an experiment with a ball to attempt to get the attention of the little
boy that was reported being there. We had previously gotten a class A EVP recording
of a small boy responding to our conversation by saying “Dee’s
the best.” We were hoping to get him to move the ball. This young boy was around 6 years old at the time he passed over.
His name was Anthony and he was an orphan when he came to America. Anthony did not have any parents or foster parents
and from what he told us he was all alone. He also told us through our psychic
interpreters and two sets of dowsing rods, how and when he had died.
The story of George, the unofficial caretaker and tour guide of Goodrich Cemetery
is a happier story. The first time PIRCOM ran into George was in our first investigation. The group gave all digital recordings to the Director to sort out and look for EVPs. George was heard saying a funny remark when we were all running around like chickens
with our heads cut off trying to get set up that night. George said “Where’s
the fire?” When I found that EVP I laughed knowing that some of the ghosts
in Goodrich Cemetery have a good sense of humor. Whenever I am at Goodrich Cemetery
I can count on George to help us out.
Goodrich Cemetery
Part # 4
Goodrich Cemetery is a very wonderful place, but beware…there are some spirits
that don’t like when investigators overstay their welcome. So, how
can I say that Goodrich Cemetery is wonderful? This cemetery is a paranormal investigator’s
dream. There is so much activity in there that you could investigate forever
and still not touch base with the entire paranormal phenomenon. The downside
to Goodrich Cemetery is this… There seems to be a huge portal to the
left of the front gate. This is where the shadow people come out and check on
us investigators to see if we mean harm to the place. Unfortunately, some people
are disrespectful to the grounds, like the teens that get drunk and knock over the tombstones.
I wish I had the money to clean that place up and monitor it 24/7. Right
now I don’t have the money, time, or the resource power to get that job done.
If there is anyone out there that does, please contact me or the group and we would be happy to help in any way we
can and put you in touch with the right people. Remember to always take
care of our cemeteries. They are a part of our history and should be revered
as such.
