CASE STUDY
Saint John Cemetery
When St. John Cemetery was brought to the attention of PIRCOM it was mid summer
of 2008. This cemetery is surrounded by homes and a local road runs right by
it. There are hills that slope up and down and many of the grave makers do not
seem to have any real order to them. Some of the markers are in small family
plots. When I was looking through the cemetery I noticed that a few plots were
put in as if they might mark tragedies such as the great fire of Fraser back in the early 1900’s. During one of my many trips to St. John Cemetery I met a man who was walking his dog. He told me that over the years he had walked his dog through the cemetery and felt many cold spots. He also told me that he felt as if he were being watched by someone or something. This man asked me if the place was haunted.
I replied: No sir that is only a tale that kids make up when they tell
stories about this place. At that point, I had never seen nor heard anything
to make me think the place was haunted. He was relieved and said that he would
never walk his dog through there again if it were truly haunted!
But, later that evening, the Cemetery would reveal it’s truths
to me and my team of investigators through a chance encounter with a ghost named George.
One night Dee, Leslie and I were out looking to speak with some spirits that might live
in St. John Cemetery. We invited a few other friends to join us for one of
our annual Ghost Walks. Once darkness had descended, we took out our divining
rods and headed out into the cemetery looking for some spirits to talk with. About
halfway into the cemetery we got a signal on the divining rods. We asked if there
was someone here that would like to talk to us, please answer by crossing the rods for yes and pulling them apart for no. The rods crossed right away! Then we
asked the possible spirit to please point the rods in their direction. All of
a sudden the rods pointed to the left! We hovered over a few headstones until
we reached the one where the rods crossed. Leslie looked at the headstone and
said his name is George. We asked “Is your name George?” The rods crossed to answer yes. We asked George many questions
in the hour or so we were there. The rods crossed back and forth. Some questions were about George’s life. Some
questions were about how things had changed from the time George walked the earth plane until now. George was very nice and answered all of our questions. However,
some other spirits were not so nice. After we talked to George, Leslie felt the
presence of a very mean spirit coming up to talk with us. One of our guests for
the evening began to feel as if she were choking, short of breath, and had chest pain.
After leaving that particular section of the cemetery, her symptoms cleared up immediately. Other guests reported strange tingling sensations on their arms and hands.
That’s when we all decided to pack up and go.
Although we have many other stories about St. John Cemetery we will have
to save them for another date…stay tuned!
