Description of location and surrounding area: Lazy K Ranch is a horse

ranch with a barn that was converted into a Bed and Breakfast. The

property had 4 horses, geese, dogs and rabbits present.  The property is

surrounded by wooded areas on 3 sides and a main road in the front

behind a gated fence. The specific area in question was an area surrounding

a large tree next to the fence of the corral where the horses roamed.

Area history: Originally founded as a lumber town, with sawmills located on

the shores of Budd Lake, Harrison is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan

As of the 2000 census, the city population was 2,108. It is the county

seat of Clare County. Harrison is near the junction of US 127 and M-61.

US 127 actually bypasses the city on the east, though a business route

serves the downtown area. Clare is 14 miles south on US 127, while

Grayling is 40 miles to the north. Harrison is bordered along its eastern side

     by Budd Lake.

Client claims: The horses would not allow anyone to ride them near the tree.

The horses would allow themselves to be ridden anywhere else within the

corral but if you tried to approach the tree they would get skittish, sidestep,

or even go as far as trying to buck you off if you attempted to ride close to

the tree. The client (Kathleen) had been recently injured when one of her

horses threw her for trying to approach the area.

Location history: The property was wooded but cleared for the B&B/Barn

and horse corral with walking/riding trails cleared out and a fire pit area

     behind the barn.

Weather at time of investigation:     80 degrees F for the first investigation

76 degrees F for the second invest.

                                                            Humidity 74 %

                                                            Dew Point 58 degrees F

                                                            Precipitation 0%

                                                            First investigation: sunny and clear

                                                            Second investigation: after sunset,

                                                                                        skies still clear.

Equipment used:       1 Digital night-vision video camera

                                   1 Analog night-vision video camera

                                   1 PX box

                                   1 Digital camera

Equipment placement: Investigators were holding the equipment at all times

at various angles from the NE to the SW around Steve and the tree but not

     crossing the corral fence.

Psychic/Medium perceptions prior to arrival: None

Psychic/Medium perceptions during investigation: (See Steve’s report

                                                                                             below)

Investigator personal experiences on site: None

Investigation summary: We went to the tree for the first investigation and

the PX box became very active. When we asked what the spirit’s name

was, the box said replied “George” and either “Sanders” or “Sanderson”.

The PX box used many words like “Cattle”, “theft”, “martyr”, and gave

several names. It also said our hostesses’ maiden name and when Steve

referred to himself, the PX box said “Jerk” on 2 different occasions. This

supported our psychic’s reading of a man who was falsely accused of

cattle theft and had been hung and buried below a mound under the tree.

When we returned later in the evening, the PX box again used many of the

same words, recognizing Kathleen again by her maiden name and once

again calling Steve a “Jerk” when he referred to himself. We performed last

rites with prayers and a sage smudging. The final word the PX box spoke

     was “happier”.

Evidence review and findings: Besides the PX box activity, the only

possible evidence recovered were multiple pictures with orbs, but due to

the high mosquito count and dust from the corral, these pictures are not

     reliable.

Final summary: PIRCOM enjoyed their stay at the Lazy K B&B. The

owners were wonderful and we have plans to return often. We are hopeful

that the cleansing ceremony will help the situation with the horses. Time will

tell. PIRCOM would like to take this opportunity to personally thank

Kathleen for her hospitality and for showing us all of the neighborhood

     ‘haunts’ during our stay.

STEVE'S TAKE

Haunting at the Lazy-K Ranch

Little did I know that when I made reservations at the Lazy-K Ranch in Harrison, Michigan that it was the site of a haunting! I arrived at the Lazy-K Bed & Breakfast around 4:00PM on the 9th of July, 2010 eager for a weekend of investigations in the area. When I arrived I met Wayne, one of the owners of the ranch. Later that day two of our other investigators arrived followed by Kathleen, the other owner of the Lazy-K. We sat and talked later that night when Kathleen mentioned that there was a tree on the property next to the corral which contained the horses. She went on to say that whenever someone would ride by this tree the horse they were on would stop, back up, side-step and she was recently hurt when her horse reared up and bucked her off in a refusal to go near the tree. The next day I went out and looked at the tree. As I approached the tree I felt a wave of energy coming off the area where the tree stood. I quickly returned to my room and got the PX Box Translator. Then I headed  back out to the tree. When I looked at it there seamed to be a mound at the base of it. I felt as if there was someone buried under it. My investigators Mark, Terri and Dee as well as Kathleen were all gathered around as I turned on the PX Box and to our surprise, out came a long list of words. Please keep in mind that the PX box has only a limited vocabulary of 2084 words in it. That didn’t explain the reason that Kathleen’s maiden name kept coming out along with several other combinations of first and last names. Then the man buried under the tree used the PX to tell us in broken words how he died as a scapegoat in a cattle thievery gone wrong. He told us his name and the names of the men who killed him as well. This had Kathleen looking bewildered to know that this happened more than a century before she bought the property. She asked me what we could do to help this poor man?  Later that night we all formed around the tree again around 11:00PM to perform last rights for the man that was unjustly murdered for something he didn’t do. We burned sage and prayed for his tortured soul in hopes that he might finally be at rest. As the sage began to burn the PX box had one last word to say to us..."happier", then all fell silent.

The next morning we awoke to find two of the horses relaxing in the shade of that tree in the corral...Kathleen and our group hope that by doing this cleansing, the horses will no longer be weary of that area and provide safer riding conditions at her ranch. If this man did hang lifeless from this tree so many years ago, perhaps that negative energy can explain the odd behavior of all of the horses when the approach that area.  I did feel that the man’s presence was still around, but now he stays as a guest at the Lazy-K and not a prisoner. So if you stay as a guest at the picturesque Lazy-K you might want to say "Hi George!" and perhaps he will let you know that he is still 'hanging' around.
