Description of location and surrounding area: 2 story home on basement,

nine rooms, on corner lot of residential neighborhood.

Area history: Port Huron is a city in Michigan and the county seat of St. Clair County. The population was 32,338 at the 2000 census. The city is adjacent to Port Huron Township but is administratively autonomous. It is joined by the Blue Water Bridge over the St. Clair River to Sarnia, Ontario in Canada. The city lies at the southern end of Lake Huron and is the easternmost point on land in Michigan.

In 1814, Fort Gratiot was established at the base of Lake Huron and was considered the first Euro-American population in the area. There was an Ojibwa reservation in part of the modern area of Port Huron until 1836.

In 1857, Port Huron became an incorporated city. Port Huron's population grew rapidly after the 1850s due in part to a successful shipbuilding and lumber trade. By 1870, Port Huron's population exceeded that of surrounding villages. In 1871, the Supreme Court designated Port Huron as the county seat.

On Sunday, October 8, 1871, the city, as well as places north in Sanilac, and Huron County, burned in the Port Huron Fire of 1871. The Thumb Fire occurred a decade later, covering almost the same area. A series of other fires leveled Holland and Manistee, Michigan, as well as Peshtigo, Wisconsin and Chicago on the same day.

Investigation summary: PIRCOM arrived and took a quick tour of the

home with owner for a psychic evaluation. The home was completely

empty, ready to be moved into. Night-vision cameras were set up in

two areas of the basement with monitor upstairs in the kitchen. We

split into two teams. Team 1 (Christa and Leslie) began upstairs with a

digital camera, an audio recorder and EMF detector. Team 2 (Steve

and Dee) headed to the basement with a digital camera, an audio

recorder and K-2 meter. 45 minutes later we switched team locations.

Teams concluded together in the living room and reassured the home

owner that all would be peaceful for her in this house. We packed up

            our equipment and headed out.

Evidence review and findings: No evidence was found on any digital audio

recorder, night-vision cameras, or digital cameras. EMF and

temperature readings remained constant throughout entire

            investigation.

Final summary: PIRCOM would like to thank Mary for allowing us to come

into her new home and we hope that our lack of findings has brought

comfort to her and that she will find peace and happiness living in her

            beautiful, new home.

NOTE: Leslie experienced some strange sensations and visions within days of returning home from this investigation. Upon feeling as if someone entered her bedroom and sat on her bed next to her, she took several photos which came out warped compared to photos taken in other rooms of the house at the same time. Leslie feels that a spirit attached to her from this case and followed her home. Leslie dismissed the spirit from her presence and all has been returned to normal in Leslie’s home.

STEVE'S TAKE

It was a cold night early in December, 2009.  The group got together and headed out to a small diner before the investigation.  When we got to the diner we started talking about the night’s investigation and what we were going to do.  Soon dinner was over and we were on our way over to a home in Port Huron.  When we arrived we were greeted by a proud new home owner named Mary.  We entered the home and noticed that there wasn’t anything in the home yet.  Mary told us that she just closed on the house.  Then she told us that she got a great deal on the home but no one seemed to stay long once they got the home.  I asked how long the last owners were here?  She said about 6 months and then the property sat empty. I told her we will check out the home for any spirit activity that might be present.  The group formed in the kitchen to get the equipment out and distributed it.  Leslie and Christa split up and covered the upstairs.  Dee and I took the basement.  I set up the monitor for the night vision cameras in the kitchen, the cameras we set in 2 places in the basement.  The other 2 investigators were taking photos and recording audio upstairs.  The home started to come alive after we had been there about 30 minutes.  I could feel the presence on an older male watching me wherever I would go.  There was a little girl spirit roaming around wanting to play.  Then a younger boy appeared to me and the older man was joined by his wife.  The couple had the home built as their dream home.  They were present because of the many years the home was in disrepair and sat on the uninhabited lot.  Then property owners over the years did everything from fixing it up, flipping it, and upgrading it.  This kept the spirits within the home at a state of constant confusion.

Then this very nice woman named Mary moves in.   Mary saw this home that was at a very low price on the market.  The home was listed just a few years before at twice the price Mary got it for.  Now she couldn’t wait.  She had heard some frightening stories about owners moving into their new homes only to find out that it had a haunting. That’s when she called us.    Leslie and Christa contacted the original home owner’s spirits that were still there and found out what was going on.  They just wanted good people to live there.  The wife was not going to give up her dream home not for any reason not even death.  The husband was happy to stay with the woman he always loved.  There were also 2 children that were attached to the home.  These 2 kids lived there at one point in their lifetime.  They wanted to stay for they had an attachment to the home as well.  Once Dee and I finished checking out the downstairs we headed upstairs.  Once we were done up there we headed back downstairs.  Then at that time we started packing up.  Mary was very pleased with our investigation.  Mary showed us out and said “if you find something let me know right away” as she gave us a very happy smile and a wave goodbye.

On the way home we discussed the case.  The one thing we all agreed was this: a haunting was possible because of all the constant construction over the years.  Feeling confident that we communicated the wishes of the spirits to Mary we believe that things will be at peace from now on. That is until the next owner moves in… whenever that might be.

Unfortunately, no scientific evidence was collected during this investigation.
